Well, I felt bad for being away from the superhero scene for some time, and when Joh sent me over the hi-rez for this (Joh is gonna get it up on a tee eventually I think, I want one when its done Joh!).... I couldn't resist taking a few hours out of the schedule to take a break and get back to basics!!
Pencils by Joh James ([link]).... excellent gallery, great style and definitely on the up this year (gonna see more from this guy thats for sure). Colours by me, 2099... I was taking some tips from Martegodpopo ([link])... Deadpool colourist of Lore and adapting the technique to my own (well, as best I could!) so a thanks goes out for his vid tutorials from earlier
Took around 3 hours of figuring it all out and putting it to use, this was the result. I'm pretty pleased with it, up close its a lot sloppier and more raw than my usual style... but it fits really well for Johs lines.
Anyways, hope you all like and thanks in advance for any comments and faves, you know I really do appreciate them all (apart from shitty ones obviously)
Rad!
PS. oh, and this is a composition made up by Joh of several seperate sketches, so yes... the lighting wont fit exactly for the scene, but i've unified the image as much as can be for a montage
pretty dope, si. need more contrast between the chars though! none of em are really popping forward, they r all pulled mid ground by the saturation. mistake i made too, so dont trip.
I know what you mean... I tried a bunch of things to get more pop on the foreground chars, I think they maybe need some strong whites in there!! Maybe desat the BG Chars a little more, even Thor and Viz a bit too.
outline-ing goes with this style like butter.
