Snake Eyes #11 Cover

Yes! StormShadow!! At last... I've been waiting too long to get to this super cool dude! When I got the email with this in it, I was grinning like I was 9 years old again. There's something I love about the dynamic of SE and SS, the opposing colours (which work against them, SE is cold, SS I prefer in warmer tones, kind of an anti-hero vibe and vice versa), and that SS has a small capacity to not be such an evil villian all the time (strangely SE, seems to lack the ability to be an ass... unless it concerns women)!

Lineart by Robert Atkins :iconratkins: (yes, the Atkins diet is still going, a little windy, but good otherwise haha!) Take a look at his blog too to see his thoughts on it...

Flats by Fernando :iconjotazombie: (big thanks as this was a pretty tight last minute deadline, and without Fernando, i'd have had to skimp over certain sections with taking the time to do my own flats)

Colours by me, 2099 :D

I spent more time than I was going to on this, mostly rendering SS, but I just wanted to play around with his Gi and colourscheme (as he's mostly white, I wanted to bring the older beige toned Gi colour back into him, with the heavier feel of a Judo or Jui-Jitsu stock Gi instead of light and airy white cotton). I know its not much of a change, but i'm pleased with it, gives me more of a palette to play with in situations. I'm gonna be doing more of SS and posting them up as soon as I can (1 awesome one to come soon!)

Anyway, hope everyone likes it, I need to see it with the titles added yet, but i'm sure it'll be fine.

Cheers and a double rad! :D

It all works in layers (colours are under the inks in my method), and I don't do any of the inks, Juan does those parts.

Thanks Kev. Yeah, but I had been told the light was coming from below in a kind of ambient way (soft candles everywhere I imagined) so I didn't get the opportunity to cast those kinds of shadows... and I always leave the 'real' shadows up to Robert, he seems to do best at implying them.

soft light from low down casts huge shadows what planet are u on simon? lol. and that folks is why colors in comics tend to be bland. people not takin risks. sorry, true feelings tho.

I've done it before, and had ed's tell me to do it over mate, no point taking risks at times when you're against the clock! You don't get paid for changes like that in comics Kev! They pay me to do what I do, I take risks on personal stuff where I can get away with it. And the inks make the dark shadows in Robs work like I said, I cant go against whats there.
